SOLANGE, THANK YOU FOR THE INVITATION

10.05.2016

September 30th, Solange released her album A Seat at the Table and I have been listening to it on repeat since Friday. Solange has been a bestie of mine (in my head) for a minute now as she has such a unique and individualist style and this album was nothing short of that. Her personality and self love exudes in the production of A Seat at the Table. Solange reminds us exactly why we need to be pro black, why we need to be pro woman and that some sh*t is for us! The production of the album is amazing. The instrumentals, features, cadence variations…just everything! A Seat at the Table is such an intricately crafted project, considering you have to respect the fact that it is a soft album, yet you want to bump the volume to 100 because the lyrics are so on point. Solange delivers perfectly smooth melodies under blunt choruses like Don’t Touch My Hair, Mad, and FUBU. This album is one that we definitely needed. It is uplifting, spiritual, and unapologetically black and I am all for it! A Seat at the Table will be my life soundtrack, and I encourage everyone to listen if you haven’t done so already. Solo, thank you for the invitation.
